Episode 10 - " Fujioka ke no nichijou " (The Fujioka household's daily life)
The Host Club arrives to Haruhi's home, an old and beaten down house. Haruhi opens the door wearing rags (with patches all over the place) and welcomes the group in a very weak yet cheerful voice. 
As the group enters, they all freak out as they see the inside of the house, which is worse than the outside. Haruhi offers some tea and serves it in different cups since she says she doesn't have enough. (All of the cups are either cracked, and some of them are even bowls and a meassuring cup) Haruhi tells them that her dad told her to serve something good to eat since they were coming over to visit, so she has been fasting for 3 days in order to save money for the food. All the members are scared, Honey cries and says to Haruhi that they're sorry for coming over to visit.
A very excited Haruhi serves "deluxe sushi" she bought at the supermarket. (it seems it was on sale too) Everyone freaks out, and Tamaki tells everyone to eat up in order to not waste the 3 days she spent fasting. Suddenly, Tamaki sees Haruhi holding some sushi and thinks its the ootoro she has been dying to try. Tamaki starts to yell "Thats not ootoro!!!! Thats plain ordinary tuna meat!!!".
The entire Suoh household stops what they're doing as they hear the young master's screams. Tamaki wakes up and realizes it was only a dream. He runs quickly down the stairs in his school uniform fixing his tie and the staff greets him. Tamaki asks for his car to be ready and is greeted by Shima. (The person in charge of the 2nd Suoh mansion and Tamaki's education is Shima Maezono, an 82 year old lady.) Shima asks Tamaki if he will be having breakfast, and in an annoyed voice tells her that he doesn't have time for that, that despite the fact that he had decided not to medle into the private lives of the club's members, he had to make sure that Haruhi was not leading such a life filled with extreme poverty. (he remembers the Haruhi in his dream eating the fake ootoro). As he approaches the door, Shima lets him know that half of his outfit consists of pajama pants and bedroom slippers. Tamaki suddenly freezes and then goes running up the stairs.
He comes back down, a little embarrased, when suddenly Shima also lets him know (as he tries to leave again) that it is in fact a sunday, and there's no school on sunday. Tamaki asks Shima why she didn't mention it in the beggining, and Shima tells him that she prays everyday so he becomes a responsible young man who realizes and corrects his own mistakes.
Shima tells Tamaki that if he doesn't have anything planned for the day, that she will teach him some manners, and starts to drag him away while he tries to get loose. Tamaki asks for a phone and a cheerful maid hands it to him. He calls Kyouya telling him he has something important to discuss. 
Haruhi is walking home from the supermarket, all cheerful because she got this item she saw on tv. She begins to plan her day: do the laundry, clean the house; suddenly she sees a commotion infront of her building and several black luxurious cars parked infront. The members of the Host Club exit the cars and Haruhi falls and bangs her head against a pole. The members start mentioning that its a big house and that it has many rooms. Kyouya mentions that Haruhi lives in one of the units, thats how commoners live. Tamaki asks Kyouya why he called everyone else, and Kyouya mentions that he did it since he thought he wouldn't have the guts to come alone. Kyouya proceeds to push the twins and tell them to go home, but the twins don't want to. Tamaki apologizes and asks them to please stay. Tamaki tells the group that its a "just dropped by the neighborhood" type of visit and not for research purposes on the Fujioka's living standards. He tells everyone to avoid saying anything that could embarrass her or her dad, things like "So small", "I want to go home", etc. (all this while Haruhi is listening) A pissed off Haruhi tells them to go home. The members suddenly look at her and tell her that her plainness looks good. Haruhi screams at them again and tells them to get lost. Tamaki shudders and starts saying that Haruhi is saying really bad words and blames the twins for it.
An older woman, Haruhi's landlady, asks Haruhi if she is ok and if the guys were Yakuza or something due to the fancy cars. Tamaki takes her hand and introduces himself as a good friend of Haruhi's while the lady blushes and gets all nervous. Haruhi can't believe that she fell for Tamaki's charm. 
The landlady leaves and tells Haruhi she'll drop by later with some pastries.
As they approach the door, Haruhi warns them that they can take a peek but only for 3 seconds. Honey tells her they brought a present, a box filled with all sorts of cakes. This makes Haruhi change her mind and say they can have some tea as well. As they enter, Tamaki is relieved and thinks its a little better than his dream. Hikaru says a negative comment and Tamaki proceeds to pull his cheeks. Everyone has a comment on the apartment, Kyouya mentions its a regular commoner home for 2 people, the twins mention that the ceiling is low but its allright for Haruhi's height, and Honey says its a cute room. Haruhi tells them that they don't have to make such an effort to praise it. Honey asks Haruhi if they have to take they're shoes off and Haruhi says yes. Honey mentions that its just like a dojo. The twins ask for slippers but then they see the tatami mats so they say they don't need them. 
The group enters the living room and have trouble getting comfortable, so Tamaki tells them to sit holding their legs (crouching) and tells them that its a method the commoners invented to save space. Haruhi overhears this and gets pissed but asks herself to be patient and not expect much from these people. Haruhi offers some tea and the twins give her a bag of tea their dad brought from Africa, and mention its quite good with milk. Haruhi wonders if she has milk and Tamaki tells the twins that now they embarrased her and that she probably doesn't even have a teapot. The twins apologize and tell her that its ok and that water would be fine, but Haruhi already made the tea. She apologizes for serving it in different cups but she doesn't have enough of the same kind. Tamaki is relieved that its not cracked cups, bowls or measuring cups. Tamaki mentions to the twins that their common sense is totally meaningless in the commoner world and they have to be careful not to hurt her feelings. Somehow it becomes a contest and Kyouya wonders why.
Honey asks Haruhi what kind of cake she would like, Haruhi asks if its ok if she picks first and one of the twins mentions that its ok since they're used to that stuff and is silenced by the other 2. Haruhi picks a strawberry cake and suddenly Mori begins to put extra strawberries on her plate and asks her if she really likes them. Haruhi smiles and says thanks while Mori smiles back. The other three start to cry saying they wish they had come up with that idea. Honey mentions that eating cake made him more hungry, and everyone else asks when's lunch. Haruhi asks them not to live such a carefree life. Kyouya mentions that since they are the ones that dropped out of the blue, they should treat Haruhi. Haruhi mentions that she's not sure she wants to be treated by Kyouya, but Kyouya mentions that they'll be paying with the money from the auction of her pictures. Which makes her think that in fact she would be the one paying all along. Haruhi mentions that there's a very nice upscale restaurant near by and Tamaki freaks out. He writes a note telling her that boxed "deluxe sushi packs" are not upscale. Haruhi gets mad and tells him she knows that and throws the note away. Tamaki freaks out and tells her that he was just worried she'd feel humilliated. Honey mentions that he would like to try Haruhi's home cooking (everyone else freaks thinking he offended her) and Haruhi says it might take a while, but Honey says its ok and they'll wait. Haruhi mentions that she needs to go to the store to get more supplies and everyone says they want to tag along.
As everyone else exits the apartment, Haruhi notices that Tamaki has stayed behind. She asks him if he's going as well, and he mentions that he just wanted to greet her mother. (Tamaki sits in front of a small shrine with a picture of Haruhi's mother). Haruhi appologizes and Tamaki mentions that she looks a lot like her mother. Haruhi mentions that her dad says the same thing. Tamaki says she's quite beautiful, Haruhi says that she doesn't know about the beautiful part but that she used to be a lawyer to which Tamaki replies saying that she must have been a good one, that he's eyes are never wrong. 
Haruhi says that she's not so sure about his eyes and mentions that she thinks the same way. (while having a flashback of her mom) Tamaki blushes sweetly and looks at Haruhi smile while talking about her mom. He then gets up in a hurry and says that they should get going, when he suddenly slips on a banana peel and accidentally falls on Haruhi. Tamaki begins to apologize when suddenly Haruhi's dad comes in dressed as a woman. Tamaki freaks out when he hears Haruhi calling him dad.
Haruhi's dad, Fujioka Ryoji a.k.a Ranka (35 years old), stares at the two in the living room. Honey and Mori narrate the scene:
Mori: "Her father who suddenly came home"
Honey: ". . . works at an okama bar"
Mori: "his daughter who appears"
Honey: "to be pushed onto the floor"
Mori: "He who appears. . . to be pushing the girl against the floor"
Honey: "An unknown man"
Tamaki suddenly understood the situation he was in. Tamaki begins to freak out but thinks that her father might understand if he explains what really happened. Ranka (Haruhi's dad) approaches the 2 and throws Tamaki against the wall while he apologizes to Haruhi for leaving her alone the night before. 
Ranka begins to say that his arm hurts as if he had swept away the biggest creature of the century and mentions that a cup of tea would be nice. Tamaki starts to run all over the place asking Haruhi if he needs firewood to warm up the tea, when suddenly Ranka steps on Tamaki and says that he just stepped on a huge bug. He asks Tamaki why he calls his daughter by her first name so freely. The twins come in and mention they had seen Ranka on their way out. Tamaki thinks they are going to save him when they suddenly step on him and introduce themselves as Haruhi's best friends. They apologize for Tamaki being a womanizer and ask Tamaki if he finally made a move on Haruhi. They tell her dad that he has played so many girls and her dad gets pissed. Tamaki stands and says that he would never do such a thing, that in fact. . . before he finishes, the twins think he's about to confess but he says that in fact he considers Haruhi as his own daughter. Haruhi's father's first impression on Tamaki. . . he's an idiot.
Haruhi's dad introduces himself as Ranka saying its his gay bar name, and Honey asks if its like an alias. Ranka mentions Honey's name and starts guessing who is who. Meanwhile, Tamaki is moping in a corner. Turns out that Kyouya has been in contact with Ranka for a while now and Tamaki freaks, Kyouya mentions that its their duty to let her dad know about how his daughter is doing. 
Ranka mentions that Kyouya is a good president (an arrow plunges into Tamaki's body), then mentions that he is the vice-president and that they probably have an incompetent president (another arrow plunges). Haruhi asks her dad how come he has been in contact with Kyouya and then yells at Tamaki for growing mushrooms in their closet. Ranka tells Haruhi that its because she won't talk about school. He suddenly hugs Haruhi and tells her she is so cute when she's mad. The twins realize that Haruhi's dad is just like someone they know. . .no wonder Haruhi is so good at dealing with Tamaki.
Haruhi gets loose and heads out to the supermarket telling everyone to stay. Ranka says that he tries to respect her independence, even when she applied to Ouran all by herself. He remembers this one time when Haruhi forgot to tell him about parent's day. He was sad and his friend mentioned that it was probably because he was gay and dressed like a woman. Ranka arrives home drunk and his friend tells Haruhi to tell him next time there's parents day. Haruhi says no, her father gets sad. 
She then mentions that she doesn't want him to go because she wants him to rest because he is always working hard and should take care of his body. Her dad cries and embraces her. Back with the group, he thanks the group and tells them that she seems to be having a good time at school. Ranka tells Tamaki that he could tell he was the idiot president Haruhi had mentioned. Kyouya then thinks that Haruhi has in fact talked about the club. Ranka tells Tamaki that he heard he mistook Haruhi for a girl until the end and says he's such an awful guy. Tamaki starts whimpering again and continues with his mushrooms. Ranka proposes they do something fun, and they all end up following Haruhi. Everyone says that they all ended up going to the store anyways and Ranka calls it the stalking game. Ranka mentions that he just wanted to be seen with a group of handsome men. The twins mention that those 2 are definetly the same species.
At the store, everyone is looking around while Haruhi shops. Tamaki asks Ranka why they are following her in secret. Ranka says that it became a habit of him to follow her. Her mom died when she was very young and she took over the shopping and cooking duties, so he worried a lot about her. 
Ranka has a flashback of Haruhi at a young age shopping and him following her. Haruhi spots her dad and asks what he's doing there. He mentions all nervously that he just wanted to carry her shopping basket, that thats what daddy loves to do. Haruhi smiles and says he's weird. Ranka tells Tamaki that he wonders if she has any desires, that Haruhi is the kind of girl who doesn't let you worry about her, and unconsciously saves others. 
Tamaki says that it is something he understands. Ranka looks at Tamaki and then begins to pull his cheek saying, "how could you understand?!!" and that he is not ready to let go of his daughter yet. He says that Tamaki is arrogant since he has only known her for a short time, so he is the enemy, he considers him the enemy. Tamaki freaks out and Ranka kicks him. Tamaki falls behind Haruhi and she asks if something is wrong. Tamaki tells her that he just wanted to carry her shopping basket, that thats what daddy loves to do. Haruhi smiles and says he's weird. Ranka watches this, while Haruhi asks Tamaki what he would like to eat. Tamaki (all baby like) says he wants onabe with plenty shungiku (hot pot cuisine with meat and crysanthemum leaves). Ranka begins to think that he wishes for that desireless girl to someday be next to that special person, but the single thought of it kinda pisses him off. As everyone sits around the table eating, Ranka serves Tamaki a bunge of leaves and no meat. Haruhi just wonders whats going on.
