What is OKHC?
Ouran Koukou Host Club (桜蘭高校ホスト部 / Ouran Highschool Host Club) is a shoujo (romantic comedy) manga created by Bisco Hatori (Bisuko Hatori) which was serialized in Lala Magazine in August 2003 and was later made into an anime series in April 2006 by Studio Bones.
Fujioka Haruhi is a regular student from a common home who earns a scholarship to attend the prestigious Ouran Academy, a private school where the sons and daughters of the extremely wealthy attend. Upon looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi enters the seemingly empty 3rd music room; but little does Haruhi know that her whole world is about to change.
Haruhi meets the strange looking members of the Host Club, a club whose sole purpose is to use the members' good looks and attributes to make their lovely customers happy (mostly females btw): the loud, charming and handsome Suoh Tamaki (club president who proclaims himself as the king), the cool and calculating Ootori Kyouya (vice-president), the mischevous twins Hitachiin Kaoru and Hitachiin Hikaru, the adorable and sweet loving Haninozuka Mitsukuni (a.ka. Honey), and the quiet and wild Morinozuka Takashi (a.k.a Mori).
Haruhi attempts to make a run for it (while being mistaken for a boy too) and accidentaly breaks an 80 million yen antique vase which stood behind her. Kyouya offers Haruhi a chance to pay that incredibly huge debt by becoming the club's "dog" (errand boy) but later on, Tamaki notices Haruhi's potential to become a Host and undergoes a full makeover which reveals her attributes. Haruhi's debt is then set to get designated by 100 customers (in the anime she is later asked to designate 1000 due to a smal lincident).
This is how the commoner's journey as a member of the Host Club and part of the strange world of the rich begins. As the story progresses, Haruhi's bond with all the members grows as they experience all sort of wacky adventures and schemes which (most of the time involve the whole club dressing up in a series of intresting costumes, something Haruhi always opposes to). But in time, she realizes that in that seemingly perfect world, not everything is what it seems, and that her new friends are actually quite an odd but interesting and awesome bunch.
